Rumour: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Coming in 2026

Grab Your Ocarina! Rumours Swirl for an Epic Ocarina of Time Remake!

Alright, folks—grab your green tunics and tune your instruments, because the rumour mill is spinning faster than Link in a spin-attack!

We’ve all been there, haven't we? Standing in the middle of Hyrule Field, listening to that iconic theme, and feeling like the world is full of endless adventure. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time isn’t just a game; it’s a masterpiece that defined a generation. And if the latest whispers are to be believed, we might be headed back to the Temple of Time sooner than we thought!

The Legend Returns?

The latest buzz comes from noted industry insider Nate the Hate, who recently dropped a bit of a bombshell on his podcast. According to Nate, Nintendo is planning a massive holiday 2026 release for a full-blown remake of Ocarina of Time.

Now, we’ve had the 3DS version, but this sounds like something much bigger. We’re talking a, potential, ground-up rebuild designed to showcase the power of the Switch 2. Imagine Hyrule reimagined with modern lighting, gorgeous textures, and an expanded draw distance!

Why 2026 is the Magic Year

It actually makes a lot of sense when you look at the calendar. 2026 marks the 40th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, and what better way to celebrate than by revisiting the title that many consider the greatest game of all time?

Nate suggests that while we might have to wait until 2027 for a brand-new 3D Mario, this Zelda remake will be the "big one" to shift consoles during the 2026 holiday season. VGC has even chimed in, suggesting these reports match what they’re hearing from their own sources. It’s starting to feel like there’s a lot of smoke here, and you know what they say—where there’s smoke, there’s usually a Fire Temple!

A Masterpiece Reborn

The big question is: how do you touch a classic? Do they go for a faithful "1:1" recreation like Link’s Awakening, or do they go the Final Fantasy VII Remake route and expand the world? Whether you want to see the Water Temple in glorious 4K (okay, maybe we still hate the Water Temple) or you just want to see Epona galloping across a modern landscape, the potential here is staggering.

Out of Sync Gaming Take

Is it time to wake the Sages once again, or should Nintendo leave the classics in the past? I don't know about you, but I’m already checking my wallet and getting ready to pre-order. I for one, and super excited about the possibility for a remake. I’m currently playing through all the mainline Zelda games for the 40th Anniversary, and I’m just about to start Ocarina of Time - look out for my review soon.

Let us know your thoughts in the comments below! Are you ready to face Ganon one more time, or are you holding out for a Wind Waker port instead?
