Nintendo Confirms Double Direct Broadcasts for September 2026
Directly, To You, Twice
Nintendo has announced a massive week of reveals with two separate Nintendo Direct presentations scheduled for 8 September and 9 September 2026. The showcase kicks off with a special presentation dedicated entirely to The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary before transitioning into a general Nintendo Direct and Nintendo Treehouse Live broadcast the following day.
For UK and European audiences, both presentations will go live at 3:00 PM BST across Nintendo's official YouTube and Twitch streaming platforms. The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct streams first on Tuesday, 8 September, with a planned runtime of approximately 30 minutes focused on the franchise's history and upcoming projects. Exactly 24 hours later, on Wednesday, 9 September at 3:00 PM BST, Nintendo will air a 45-minute general presentation followed immediately by two hours of Nintendo Treehouse Live gameplay coverage.
The dual-event structure allows Nintendo to give its flagship adventure franchise undivided attention before turning focus to autumn and winter platform software. Industry expectations for Tuesday's presentation center on full gameplay details and a formal release date for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake. Fans are also anticipating updates regarding the live-action Zelda film project and potential hardware releases, such as a themed special-edition console.
Wednesday's general Direct will pivot toward the broader Nintendo Switch 2 software slate. Alongside updates for first-party titles coming later this year, third-party announcements are expected to take center stage, including release timing for FromSoftware's exclusive title The Duskbloods and performance profiles for Monster Hunter Wilds.
Splitting its September presence into two distinct broadcasts highlights Nintendo's massive software pipeline heading into late 2026. Giving The Legend of Zelda its own anniversary stage ensures major announcements won't overshadow upcoming third-party partnerships scheduled for the following afternoon. The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct streams live today at 3:00 PM BST.
The Out of Sync Gaming Take
Of course these two directs happening in the middle of the working day! It’s going to be touch for me not to have these playing during my work calls. My hope for Zelda Ocarina of Time is for it to be akin to A Link Between Worlds. I would love for them to give us familiarity, but to change up what we expect and experience. As far as the General Direct is concerned - just give me more Nintendo games and updates. I’m not holding my breath for it to be the most amazing Nintendo Direct, but it’s always fun to get excited about what may be announced. What do you think is going to be announced!
