Nintendo Switch Makes History and Switch 2 Continues to Climb the Charts
The Big-N releases it’s latest fiscal report and the Switch Family of Systems breaks records
In its latest financial report, Nintendo confirmed that the original Nintendo Switch has officially become the company's best-selling console of all time. With 155.37 million units sold, it has finally moved past the legendary Nintendo DS.
While the original Switch is busy setting records, its successor is off to a flying start. Since launching last June, the Nintendo Switch 2 has found its way into 17.37 million homes. It’s the fastest start we’ve ever seen for a Nintendo console, proving that the appetite for the new hardware is massive.
Software and Sales Forecast Updates Include:
Mario Kart World: The clear fan favorite, selling 14.03 million copies already. (Because of the bundle - but that makes for a great attach rate for this title!)
Pokémon Legends: Z-A: A huge hit across both generations, totaling over 12 million sales. (The total figure from Switch and Switch 2 sales.)
A Healthy Future: Thanks to these strong numbers, Nintendo has boosted its sales forecast to 19 million Switch 2 units by the end of March.
Whether you're still enjoying your original Switch or you've made the jump to the new 4K era of the Switch 2, one thing is clear: Nintendo’s momentum isn't slowing down anytime soon.
Out of Sync Gaming Take
Even with all of the economical headwinds, Nintendo still manages to impress with it’s sales. We’ll have to see if they can keep this momentum in the second year or will they succomb to the sophmore slump? I for one, haven’t turned on my Switch since I got my Switch 2 - it’s fantastic system with all the right upgrades that make it feel fresh and still familar.
