Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially announced its next major State of Play livestream, scheduled for Thursday, 3 September 2026.‍ ‍

In a departure from traditional broadcast formats, the event features a back-to-back structure: a primary global showcase followed immediately by PlayStation's first-ever dedicated State of Play Japan broadcast.

What to Expect: From PlayStation Studios to Final Fantasy VII

According to Sony's official announcement, the main broadcast will focus on upcoming titles from PlayStation Studios alongside third-party partners. The primary show concludes with an extended gameplay look at Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Revelation, following its initial reveal at Gamescom ONL. There will most likely be something about Wolverine to build hype for the launch later this month. And the GTA VI of it all, will surely make an appearance! Immediately after, voice actor Yuki Kaji will host State of Play Japan, delivering deep dives, gameplay reveals, and localised updates from Japanese and Asian development studios. But will they be able to build excitement and drown out the noise of players shouting ‘no disc, no buy’ in the comments. It’s already started and the stream isn’t for another two days.
