Sony State of Play February 2026: Rumours, Dates, and Game Leaks
Sony’s Rumour Mill Kicks into Gear
After a relatively quiet January from Sony Interactive Entertainment, multiple industry insiders have signaled that a PlayStation State of Play is scheduled for February 2026. This rumoured event would serve as Sony’s primary response to recent updates from competitors and provide much-needed clarity on its 2026 release calendar.
Insider Reports and Timing
The reports originated from prominent leaker NateTheHate, who recently confirmed that a showcase is indeed in the works for next month. This claim was further corroborated by Jeff Grubb during his Game Mess Mornings program, where he narrowed the window to the week of February 12, 2026. Historically, Sony has favoured the second month of the year for major updates, hosting February events in four of the last five years.
Potential First-Party Showings
The primary focus of a February event would likely be Marvel’s Wolverine. Developed by Insomniac Games, the title is currently targeting a Fall 2026 release. Fans are expecting a deep-dive gameplay trailer and the announcement of a firm release date.
Other first-party titles expected to make an appearance include:
Saros: Housemarque’s ambitious sci-fi follow-up to Returnal, currently scheduled for April 30, 2026.
Marathon: Bungie’s extraction shooter, which is approaching its March 5 launch date.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet: The new IP from Naughty Dog might get some love and we could find out more about the game.
Third-Party Partnerships
Capcom and Square Enix could have a presence along with a few other third-parties.
Resident Evil Requiem: With the game launching on February 27, a final "launch trailer" at a State of Play is highly probable.
Final Fantasy IX Remake: Rumors continue to swirl around this project; a February reveal would satisfy years of community speculation.
Crimson Desert: Pearl Abyss’s open-world epic, due in March, is also a strong candidate for a final gameplay showcase.
While Sony has yet to officially announce the broadcast, the convergence of multiple reliable sources suggests that PlayStation fans should clear their calendars for the second week of February.
Out of Sync Gaming Take
Sony really needs to come out swinging this year. I’ve had the PS5 since launch, and I don’t really feel likes it’s come into it’s own and we’re into it’s sixth year on the market. I’m really excited for Wolverine, but I’m hoping Sony has a few more announcements up its’s sleave to grab my attention.
