Kratos Returns: God of War Greek Trilogy Remake and 'Sons of Sparta' Shadow Drop

Katros is back!

Santa Monica Studio is celebrating the 20th anniversary of God of War with a dual announcement. The headliner is a ground-up God of War Greek Trilogy Remake for the PS5. Most importantly for long-time fans, the legendary TC Carson is officially returning to voice Kratos in these remakes, marking his first time in the role since 2013.

While the trilogy remake is in early development, Sony didn't leave fans empty-handed. They "shadow dropped" God of War: Sons of Sparta, a 2D action-platformer available now on the PlayStation Store. Developed with Mega Cat Studios, this canon prequel follows a young Kratos and his brother Deimos during their brutal Spartan training at the Agoge.

The Out of Sync Take

These two announcements have me very hyped here at Out of Sync Gaming. I’m a big fan of the God of War series and can’t wait to replay the trilogy on the PS5. I’m curious about the prequel. My initial reaction is I’m not the biggest fan of the art style, but the gameplay looks great and that’s what really matters.
