Resident Evil Requiem Showcase: Zombie’s with personality?

Resident Evil Requiem Showcase: Leon Returns, Dual-Protagonists, and a February Release Date

Capcom held its highly anticipated Resident Evil Showcase yesterday, and it’s safe to say the survival horror giant isn't pulling any punches for the series' ninth mainline entry. Resident Evil Requiem took centre stage, and we finally have a clear look at how the next nightmare will play out when it drops on February 27, 2026.

Two Heroes, Two Perspectives

The biggest takeaway from the 12-minute broadcast is the return of Leon S. Kennedy, who is sharing the spotlight with a brand-new protagonist, FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft. Interestingly, Capcom is playing with perspective here: Grace’s segments appear to lean heavily into the claustrophobic, first-person horror of RE7, while Leon’s path embraces the over-the-shoulder, "survival action" style perfected in the RE4 Remake.

"Living" Zombies?

In a twist that has the community talking, the "Elpis-infected" enemies in Requiem aren't your typical mindless shamblers. The showcase revealed a "personality" system where zombies retain fragments of their former lives. We saw a chef zombie obsessively "tidying" a kitchen, oblivious to the player unless provoked. This adds a fascinating layer of stealth and strategy—do you take them out, or exploit their routines to slip by?

The Technical Edge

Capcom also confirmed that Requiem will be a technical showpiece. PC players can look forward to DLSS 4 support, while console players on PS5 and Xbox Series X will enjoy revamped ray-tracing. Most excitingly for our handheld fans, the game is confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 on day one, alongside ports of RE7 and Village.
