Hardware Leak: Is a Second Nintendo Switch 2 Model Already in Production?

Could there be a new ‘cheaper’ version of the Switch 2 in production already?

While the gaming world has been focused on software showcases, the Nintendo "leaksphere" has just been hit with what looks like the most solid evidence yet that there may yet be new version of the successful Nintendo console in the works (no surprise to anyone)! A series of new model numbers and supply chain discrepancies suggest that Nintendo might be preparing a hardware revision or a secondary SKU.

The "OSM" vs "BEE" Discovery

The rumour mill was started this morning when a new model identifier, OSM, was spotted in Nintendo’s backend developer portals. This sits alongside the long-rumored BEE code, which many insiders believe is the flagship Switch 2 unit.

Check out this post from Sky :3 on BlueSky.

It seems like a good time for Nintendo to introduce a ‘Lite’ model of the Switch 2. With an anticipated price hike for the Switch 2, this could be a way to get new players into the Switch 2 family and sell more systems at a lower price point.

I think I've discovered something interesting, but I have no idea what it implies: On Nintendo's Account Portal, there's an unused model code under the name "OSM". (The Switch 2's model code is BEE.) The portal has images for each Switch model, and requesting OSM returns an image of a Switch 2.

Again this is all speculation and rumour with no announcement from Nintendo at this point. What do you think? Is this just the never-ending rumour mill at its peak? Or do you think we’re due a cheaper new Switch 2 model later this year?
